Stay in Your lane

By -

Dear somebody, stay in your lane.

The reason God blessed You with that talent is because only you can be best at it. That unique thing you do with your talent is what makes the difference in whatever field you find yourself.

Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton are singers but are different in sound. They are both amazing singers but with difference. They are not intimidated nor jealous of each other, rather they make magic.

You can prosper well in whatever field you are in as long as you add that special God given flavor to your talent.
Don't change, switch or try to be another thing you are not.

God loves colour so he made us with different colours so that we can come together and become a rainbow.

If you ain't in your lane, you are going off balance.

Relationship Series (Introduction)

By -
Some years ago, I began to have some thoughts about life. Everyday, we come across people who put up false happiness. Everyone's trying to be truly happy, and everyone surely deserves that, because there's no life without happiness. But a lot of persons are much unhappy inside than they seem to be. Sometimes the pain they feel deep inside gets to a threshold, where they can't keep on putting up false happiness, and their true feelings are more often expressed. For a good number of persons, they redefine happiness, and their definition of happiness does not bring them true happiness, though it feels so at the beginning, but at the end, it only adds to the pain they already feel. At the same time, their search for happiness causes pains to others who are averagely happy or whose happiness is below average. Relationships are part of life. Everything about life thrives on relationship. For every society to be progressive, there must be a greater part of the society with posi...

I am a member of "The Let's Talk About Series" community. I'll be sharing notes from one of the sessions we had this year. The session was on Olajumoke Adenowo. ---------- (Diligent Amaka speaking) Olajumoke Olufunmilola Adenowo (born in 1968) is an award-winning Nigerian architect, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, as well as a speaker, radio host, and author. She is the founder of the boutique architecture and interior design firm AD Consultin, based in Lagos, Nigeria. CNN described her as "Africa's Starchitect" and The Guardian (Nigeria) has described her as "the face of Architecture in Nigeria. Adenowo has several philanthropic ventures. In 1999, she founded the Awesome Treasures Foundation (ATF), a faith-based NGO in Lagos, Nigeria. She has been outspoken about taking pride in her Nigerian heritage and her hopes to unleash the potential of Nigerian youth. Much of the programming works with under served women and children. ATF runs Camp Dawn...

Before You Propose

Truth be told, I believe in that proverbial saying "shoe have sizes". A man who doesn't recognize the relevance of his shoe size will end up with an over sized or an under sized shoe. It's not all Ladies, that one can afford. No matter one's bank account, even if you're Nigeria's richest man, Dangote. Financial capacity aside, there are some Ladies beyond your mental capacity, who reason now beyond the way you will in the next five years (no insult intended, just reality). I have met such Ladies. Then there's Spiritual capacity. As a Pastor, or upcoming Pastor (If such title exists), or one with the Call of God on one's life; and who gets married to a Lady or a Man, who has no interest in God or the Church, how would one cope with one's partner who has some added spiritual responsibilities as a Preacher of the Gospel, or/and a Partner who doesn't feel okay or appreciate your calling as a Spiritual leader? What about Physical capacity? Ho...

Why Salt kills earthworms?

By -
Image
A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Before that, I'll share some points about earthworms: - They are in the lumbricus genus, there are various species of earthworms, but the common earthworm's scientific name is lumbricus terrestris - Their digestive system runs through the length of their skin - Earthworms respire through their skin - They are hermaphrodites (each one carries both male and female sex organs) - They lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton , but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton. Okay, let's talk about salt and earthworms: Earthworms respire and secrete mucus through their skins. Salt (sodium chloride) has the ability of absorbing moisture (desiccant). When a large quantity of salt i...

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so

No condition in life is good or bad – it's all in your thinking! There was an old man who had gone to his farm for many years riding on his tamed and trained horse. One day, his horse ran away. On hearing the news, his neighbours came to commiserate with him. “What bad luck”, they said. “May be and may be not”, the farmer replied. The next morning, the horse returned, however, with three other horses (but untamed and thus wild). “How wonderful!”, the neighbours exclaimed. “May be and may be not”, replied the old farmer once again. The following day, his only son tried to ride one of the untamed horses. He was thrown off, and broke his leg. The neighbours again came and exclaimed, "how unfortunate!". “May be and may be not”, answered the old farmer again. The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army for the world war II. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. “How lucky you are that they spared your son!”,...

Should an Employee seek to grow his passion?

By -
Image
This is a question that has generated a lot of conversation and brought diverse responses. Should an employee seek to pursue his or her passion? When is the right time? How do I make time to pursue it and make it profitable? Questions like these have lingered in the hearts of employees. With the uncertainties at some work place, the satisfaction derived from your heart's call and the fear of regret at the twilight of life. These and many more have pushed many out of their comfort zone to run their dreams and same time, the demands have made much more cower and stay in their comfort zone, drained of life - dying daily. Am I saying you quit your job to chase your passion? Of course not a decision to be made in the spur of the moment. You just must start small and take little steps towards them. I don't want to use my experience to explain this but let me share a friend's. I met him at a wedding over three years ago, we were groomsmen to our mutual friend and from the...

Quotes for this Week

The Quotes today, is credited to Bimbola Tayo-Bamidele. The Quotes: • The same effort it will take to think small is the one it will take to think big. So, why waste your thought-airtime on small thinking? These days, I'm practically finding out how small thinking costs more, and big thinking costs less. No room for small thinking here. I can't afford it... • Drop hints for people on how you want to be treated and they will take it. It's called self-respect. • Be. Do. Have. In that order. If you mix that order up, you put the cart before the horse. And when you do that, you invite chaos... and unrest. You miss the number one law of success... • If you don't like reading, it's not that something is wrong with you. It's only that you've not found a subject so consuming that you're passionate about and would dedicate your life to... • They might never affirm you or agree with you; but trust me, they are learning from you. Don't give up... Bi...

Eye health: Keeping healthy Eyes

By -
Image
We know how important our eyes are to us. The eyes are delicate and no one will definitely want anything to compromise the eyesight. Today, I will share some important points about keeping one's eyes healthy. • Regular eye check ups and tests are necessary for ensuring good eye health, and will help to detect certain eye diseases like glaucoma which could be asymptomatic. Also, one's knowledge of his/her family's eye health history is necessary to pre-guard against hereditary eye diseases • Staring at screens (TV screen, computer screen, video games) could be unhealthy for one's eyes. It's advisable that one doesn't stare for too long. A rule called the 20/20/20 rule suggests that one should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to reduce eye strain. That implies that one should take his eyes off the screen at least once every 20 minutes and relax the eyes • The use of sunglasses is encouraged when the intensity of sunli...

You don’t have to be told that building and maintaining your brand online is a cornerstone to making things happen in your career. A personal website, social media, industry associations — these are all tucked in your toolbelt for communicating to employers and clients about your brand. Especially if you’re going through a career change, it’s important to give your brand a makeover. Sure, there are transferrable skills, but you need to communicate why they are relevant to a new industry. If you’re going to move to a new career, you need your brand to reflect why you should be able to. Point out what those qualities and abilities are online. Don’t be shy. Mention all you can. Don’t stop there.
