Real Teachers are Builders, Motivators and Leaders

Sometimes, a lot of students do feel that some of their Teachers (Teachers, Lecturers) do not fit into those shoes. Sometimes, students wonder if they had any passion for teaching/educating other persons before they came on board the education profession, or if it's just for the money or a different reason. Even if teaching/lecturing was a job one never wanted, which just came by chance after one couldn't get one's dream job; one has got the job now. Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield said:  "Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well". This should be everyone's attitude to whatever one feels is worth doing. I've heard about statements and comments by teachers which tend to transfer the difficult experiences they had while a student, to the students they are supposed to bring up and help educate - negativity, that discourages education. Some of them would assume it to be normal or their own way of inspiring or pushing their students. They ...

Failure is never FAILURE

When I was still a student in Pharmacy School (and even now), there is always one moody, tensed day in every semester. It's the day, the previous semester's results is released. You'll see a good number of students rushing to the faculty's notice board to check results (theirs and others). Some take snapshots and upload them on their class WhatsApp groups for those who don't like going to check it up on the notice board. Some others feel for those who didn't clear (and those who failed badly), and who are feeling sad and unhappy because of it. They try to console them. You'll see the unhappy mood of those whose results were below expectation. Everyone...

The evil called "Junior Waec"

Saw this on facebook and felt it's worth sharing here.. In JSS3; Our educational curriculum mandates that an examination be taken. This said exam is aimed at segregating the class into:- Sciences, Commercials and Arts; as the students transit to Senior Secondary School level. Those that score well above average are moved to sciences. The school management naturally assumes this category to be the most intelligent of the bunch and they surreptitiously bestow upon them the responsibility to become the future Medical doctors and Engineers. Those whose scores were average are moved to commercials because they are terms as those whose brains lack the capacity to comprehend Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They are better of going into the world of business. And those whose scores are below average are moved to Arts. These ones are characterised as dullards and olodo rabbatas. This category of students are termed as future Politicians. Ladies and gentlemen; This is the fundamental ...
