A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. This part focuses on diet and eye health. Good eye health requires the consumption of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc, beta-carotene, vitamins A, C and E, etcetera. Deficiency of these nutrients contributes to poor eye health Food sources that are positive for eye health include; - Green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale and others - Fruits like citruses and berries (oranges, etcetera). Also almonds, carrots, tomatoes, mangoes, pawpaw - Fatty fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel. - Non meat protein sources like eggs, nuts, beans, etcetera - Diary products like milk and yoghurt Unhealthy foods such as processed foods, foods containing saturated fats, or foods that are high in sugar, should be limited and less consumed. This morning (on the day this was originally written), I and mum had a good mom-to-son discussion. I was listening to Tim Godfrey's 'Gbemisoke', with my earpiece tightly clung to my ears. The instrumental portion of the song forced me to dance along the rhythmic steps with a great fervour. Actually, the earpiece was already half-dead, and wouldn't be accepted by a layman even if gifted. I wasn't ready to buy a new one. I danced so passionately that my mum couldn't help but laugh. And suddenly, the song abruptly stopped. I wondered why it stopped. Later, I found out that the earpiece died itself. It was time to have it thrown out. My mum laughed at me. Getting into marriage without planning and discussing your expectations about the marriage is like flagging down a taxi and not knowing why or where you want it to take you. I'm I going to work after marriage or be a full time house wife?, how many kids?, yes to family planning or not?, whose in charge of what?, sleep in different bedrooms or same bedroom?, etcetera. Passing by a church over the weekend, my thoughts revolved about a noticeable trend that have stayed in Nigeria, I believe for about a decade or so. You must have observed same. Churches in recent years now use Religious broadcasting (which is broadcasting by religious organizations, usually with a religious message) to conduct LIVE services. So, a head quarter church in any part of the country can easily broadcast to any of their satellite churches, and you see people in this satellite churches agreeing and seeing visible results. Several years ago, people will never try that. They will wonder why you should be looking at somebody in a box, and be dancing, singing and even believe same for miracles. What foolishness?
