Think as if there is no box

A small businessman once owed a large sum of money to an old and unattractive loan-shark that just so happened to fancy the business man’s daughter.

After many years of the business man's failure to pay back, the loan-shark then decided to offer him a deal that would completely wipe out the debt but with a catch that he could marry his daughter. Needless to say, this proposal was met with disgust by the businessman and sadness by his daughter.

So, the loan-shark devised a means to get the business man play along by telling him he would place two pebbles in a bag, one white and one black. And if his daughter reaches into the bag and pick out a black pebble, the debt would be wiped and he would marry her. But if she picks white, the debt would also be wiped, but the daughter wouldn't have to marry him.

Standing on a pebble strewn path in the business man’s garden, the loan-shark bent over and picked up two pebbles. Whilst he was picking them up, the daughter noticed that he’d picked up two black pebbles (instead of a white and a black) and placed them both into the bag. He then asked the daughter to reach into the bag and pick one.

The daughter was stunned as it means she naturally has only 3 choices:

- Refuse to pick a pebble from the bag.
- Take both pebbles out of the bag and expose the loan-shark for cheating.
- Pick a pebble from the bag knowing full well it was black.

Regardless of the choices, the outcome would mean his father will remain indebted to the loan-shark.

So, she thought through these 3 scenarios and opted to do none but a seemingly unavailable and impossible option - she drew out a pebble from the bag, and before looking at it ‘accidentally’ dropped it into the midst of the other pebbles on the ground. She then said to the loan-shark;

"Oh, how careless of me! Never mind, if you look into the bag for the pebble that is left, you'll be able to tell which pebble I picked". The pebble left in the bag is obviously black, and seeing as the loan-shark didn’t want to be exposed, he had to play along as if the pebble the daughter dropped was white - he thus cleared her father's debt without marrying her.

Regardless of how tough your present situation is, it is always possible to overcome by not giving up to give in to the options you think are the only available but will lead to an unwanted outcome.

This new week, think never die! Think possible! Think unstoppable!

When your subconscious mind senses you've concluded that there's no more option in a tough situation, it shuts down! So, think as if there's no box.

I believe in you. Good morning.
You are unstoppable!
