I was with my parents over the weekend. It was a great time with them. Our conversations especially when I am about leaving them after a visit will end with a prayer. But this time a good part of the conversation centered on marriage and so was about 86% of the prayer on getting married from the right family and settling down well....hmmm. You see, we all have this almighty question to answer now and then. In fact, life in Nigeria is ideally viewed in a particular cycle – Birth - Go to School - Graduate from University - National Youth Service - Work or Business - Marriage and Children, and then Work, Work, Business, Business - Raise Children - Work, Work, Business, Business - Death. The dangers associated with it not working out are enormous and sometimes damaging to a life almost beyond repairs. It's best to cage your emotions and build friendship with the 'suspect' until certainty is firmly established and marriage is now in view... And if the other party has become emotional, do not reciprocate if it's out of pity. The foundation upon which your emotions are established determines the longevity of the relationship (and even marriage). Emotional Love ought not to be forced out, it should flow naturally. A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science.
