Are you a value-adding person or a parasite? Do you go about seeking for opportunities to help, or to be helped? I have said it before and will say it again that, at our various levels, we all can be a blessing; somehow.

We know what you will do when you have plenty but what are you doing with the little in your hands? Only he that is faithful with little, can be trusted with much.

You were created to add value to your world; not to be a victim of circumstances.
Rise up, and give to your world.

We wanted to check our result. Each one of us, was with a paper and a pen. The lecturer in charge asked for our matriculation numbers and one after the other, he was reeling off grades, GPA and CGPA. Ten years ago, in a Bible quiz competition in my church's youth ministry, I won and was given a book. I didn't see the need for the book then though I read a bit of it and dumped it in our library. Fast forward ten years later, that book is blessing me now. God sent a book to me ten years ahead because he knows and has everything about me all figured out. Go back to your old books, diaries, jotters, primary and secondary school books, and you will have a reason never to give up. I stumbled over an Essay I wrote in JSS2 and I had to reassure myself I am super intelligent, I can't believe that came from a twelve year old. Seriously I cannot write with such dexterity now. The transfer window has been on since the first day of the month and there have been interesting signings by some European clubs. On Sports this week, we highlight some of the significant transfers... Two days ago (8th), Ederson Moraes completed a £35m transfer from Benfica to Manchester City. I normally take a walk in the evenings. The practice of solitude on the street... the idea of being quiet on a road full of noisy commuters seems heavenly to me. It makes me feel different and that's exactly the kind of environment I can unwind. This evening, it was church-time for some folks. Because I wasn't walking alone, I had to be chatty with my colleague. We spoke from petty politics to travelling abroad and just as we got in front of this church, I asked him why people went to church. He retorted: "Fear!" Immediately, I checked the faces of those who were praying at the end of a screaming minister's voice and it was shocking to find their faces full of the very thing my friend said--fear. I was with my parents over the weekend. It was a great time with them. Our conversations especially when I am about leaving them after a visit will end with a prayer. But this time a good part of the conversation centered on marriage and so was about 86% of the prayer on getting married from the right family and settling down well....hmmm. You see, we all have this almighty question to answer now and then. In fact, life in Nigeria is ideally viewed in a particular cycle – Birth - Go to School - Graduate from University - National Youth Service - Work or Business - Marriage and Children, and then Work, Work, Business, Business - Raise Children - Work, Work, Business, Business - Death. I hope you can relate with that cycle. When you are done, your children obviously will continue with the next cycle starting from where you started. Relationships are not laboratory experiments we casually go into to see if it can work out. The dangers associated with it not working out are enormous and sometimes damaging to a life almost beyond repairs. It's best to cage your emotions and build friendship with the 'suspect' until certainty is firmly established and marriage is now in view... And if the other party has become emotional, do not reciprocate if it's out of pity. The foundation upon which your emotions are established determines the longevity of the relationship (and even marriage). Emotional Love ought not to be forced out, it should flow naturally.
