Some years back, things were so difficult for my parents and us. It was the most difficult part of our lives. Then my dad lost entirely all his businesses. It was hard on him. Everything was gone. My mum had a clothing business she was doing. Everything was on her. Every responsibility was on her. She had entirely no choice but to carry this two-in-one cross herself. It came to a point where she had to take her lifeline. We were going to join in the struggle. I was ten while my younger brother was eight. She would give us part of the clothe to go through many streets to sell. Sometimes it took us hours to sell one of the clothes. It was World Sickle Cell Day some hours ago (June 19), so I decided to do a piece on Sickle Cell Anaemia (a Sickle Cell Disease). Our Blood consists of four major distinct types of blood cells, one of which is the Red blood cells. These Red blood cells contains a protein, Haemoglobin, which is responsible for transporting Oxygen around the body. (Of course, we know we can't live without Oxygen!). This protein, Haemoglobin, in its normal form (Haemoglobin A), enables the Red blood cells have a normal shape (disc shape), but when in a mutated form (Haemoglobin S), results in Red blood cells that are sickle-shaped. The normal disc-shaped Red blood cells are flexible and can easily move through small and large blood cells and around the body to supply oxygen to various body tissues and organs, but the sickle-shaped Red blood cells can't easily do this. I once used to pray like this whenever we were to go into an 'anointing service.' “We invite the Holy Spirit into this place.” “The Holy Spirit really showed up this morning!” If you have been a Christian for any amount of time, you have no doubt heard these expressions. In fact, you have probably said at least one of them yourself. I know I have! Many believers today often open up church services or worship meetings with prayers like “come, Holy Spirit!” Yet I suspect these prayers may not need to be prayed. Our faith as Christians is not misguided or misdirected, God did not ask us to have faith on something that does not work or that is nonexistent. Everything we believe God for already is and have been proven to be reproducible. People have believed for the same things you believe God for and have or are getting them continually. The problem is we and not the word of God. Do this anytime you feel your faith is tested. Walk randomly into your church and ask people randomly if they have ever believed God for what you are believing and have received. The results have always been and will continue. Our faith is not guess work, it is not uncertain, it is not speculation, it is not luck or chance. We believe God for what already is, have been and is been received continually by others.
