Today, I'll share few of what I learnt from this inspiring book by Norman Vincent Peale. It's an amazing and inspiring book, which I feel a lot of persons have read. But if you haven't, it's worth checking out. It's amazing to know that Peale's book is still inspiring lives long after written, and after he's gone (Peale died in 1993 at the age of 95 years). • Nothing is inherently powerful. We wanted to check our result. Each one of us, was with a paper and a pen. The lecturer in charge asked for our matriculation numbers and one after the other, he was reeling off grades, GPA and CGPA. I read this book about four years ago, and it was a big turning point for me. Much was learnt, I'll share few of them today. You should check it out. The lessons: Death begins when one stops learning, and ageing starts from one's mind, not one's body. One remains young as far as he or she keeps learning; One starts crashing once he or she stops pushing. One's ability to excel mentally is paralyzed once one stops trying and accepts that the results obtained is the best he or she can attain; One's life becomes a burden when one's life is void of progress. And when one's brain isn't working towards anything, it becomes a weight on the body. The brain is motivated when it sees something ahead, something to work towards for; One's success does not demand prayer and fasting, as much as engaging one's senses positively. We all know how to use the remote control to change the channels on the TV. If we see something we don’t like, no big deal, we just change the channel. I know I do that a lot. I always say to myself that, “my eyes will see no evil”. We need to learn how to mentally change channels when negative images of the past pop up in our minds unexpectedly. You have to let go of the past and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You can’t do anything about what’s happened to you, but you can choose how you will face what’s in front of you. Create a new TV channel for your mind. Now program this channel with positive memories to replace the ones you are leaving behind. Be sure to delete "past failure" and trust God for a renewing of mind and a better future. Some days ago (Tuesday, the 16th of January, to be precise), I got an idea which I shared with the members of the LPI WhatsApp Group. I was inspired to write four Positivity Quotes which I'll share here.
