This is a Success Story shared by Olusola O'sola Fapohunda, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. ----- In early 2010, I went with about four other guys in my department - to visit our level registration officer. We wanted to check our result. Each one of us, was with a paper and a pen. The lecturer in charge asked for our matriculation numbers and one after the other, he was reeling off grades, GPA and CGPA. He eventually got to me and I heard a digit that sounded like I've been shot. God! Me! 2.29. I've earned myself Grade E in some three unit courses and my best course was APH301, which I had a B with a score of 69. I grew up to my early teenage in Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria and countless times, I saw my mum poured cooking waste water containing tomato and vegetable seeds into a corner of our backyard through the kitchen window. Also, I grew up always seeing some tomato and vegetable plants growing at the corners of our unused backyard turned dumping site for kitchen waste and I always wondered who planted them and in fact, I also always thought they were unhealthy vegetables since they grow on a mere dirty, sometimes stinking waste-dumping site. That's partly true, as our generation is extremely diverse, and with that diversity many ways of thinking appear. We find that the ideas older generation consider private are openly discussed by our generation and likes of such attitude and approach towards life. This new behaviour and idea of diversity has exposed a lot of us to accepting new ideas – which is not a bad thing in itself.
