You are God, Great God

By -

The human mind was not fashioned to comprehend You...
We only understand in parts...
We name You according to the things you do for us...
We crave, grope and search...
We yearn for You...
Yet we can't get it all...
You are Deeper...
If I can know all of You, then where lies the Mystery?
How do I describe Eternity without being translated...?
How can the brain cells work to understand Your being without losing it...
For we know in part...
You're Life...The Life
You're Truth...The Truth
You're Way...The Way
God You are
Yahweh... The Father and The God of Jesus...

Relationship Series (Introduction)

By -
Some years ago, I began to have some thoughts about life. Everyday, we come across people who put up false happiness. Everyone's trying to be truly happy, and everyone surely deserves that, because there's no life without happiness. But a lot of persons are much unhappy inside than they seem to be. Sometimes the pain they feel deep inside gets to a threshold, where they can't keep on putting up false happiness, and their true feelings are more often expressed. For a good number of persons, they redefine happiness, and their definition of happiness does not bring them true happiness, though it feels so at the beginning, but at the end, it only adds to the pain they already feel. At the same time, their search for happiness causes pains to others who are averagely happy or whose happiness is below average. Relationships are part of life. Everything about life thrives on relationship. For every society to be progressive, there must be a greater part of the society with posi...

I am a member of "The Let's Talk About Series" community. I'll be sharing notes from one of the sessions we had this year. The session was on Olajumoke Adenowo. ---------- (Diligent Amaka speaking) Olajumoke Olufunmilola Adenowo (born in 1968) is an award-winning Nigerian architect, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, as well as a speaker, radio host, and author. She is the founder of the boutique architecture and interior design firm AD Consultin, based in Lagos, Nigeria. CNN described her as "Africa's Starchitect" and The Guardian (Nigeria) has described her as "the face of Architecture in Nigeria. Adenowo has several philanthropic ventures. In 1999, she founded the Awesome Treasures Foundation (ATF), a faith-based NGO in Lagos, Nigeria. She has been outspoken about taking pride in her Nigerian heritage and her hopes to unleash the potential of Nigerian youth. Much of the programming works with under served women and children. ATF runs Camp Dawn...

Before You Propose

Truth be told, I believe in that proverbial saying "shoe have sizes". A man who doesn't recognize the relevance of his shoe size will end up with an over sized or an under sized shoe. It's not all Ladies, that one can afford. No matter one's bank account, even if you're Nigeria's richest man, Dangote. Financial capacity aside, there are some Ladies beyond your mental capacity, who reason now beyond the way you will in the next five years (no insult intended, just reality). I have met such Ladies. Then there's Spiritual capacity. As a Pastor, or upcoming Pastor (If such title exists), or one with the Call of God on one's life; and who gets married to a Lady or a Man, who has no interest in God or the Church, how would one cope with one's partner who has some added spiritual responsibilities as a Preacher of the Gospel, or/and a Partner who doesn't feel okay or appreciate your calling as a Spiritual leader? What about Physical capacity? Ho...

Should an Employee seek to grow his passion?

By -
Image
This is a question that has generated a lot of conversation and brought diverse responses. Should an employee seek to pursue his or her passion? When is the right time? How do I make time to pursue it and make it profitable? Questions like these have lingered in the hearts of employees. With the uncertainties at some work place, the satisfaction derived from your heart's call and the fear of regret at the twilight of life. These and many more have pushed many out of their comfort zone to run their dreams and same time, the demands have made much more cower and stay in their comfort zone, drained of life - dying daily. Am I saying you quit your job to chase your passion? Of course not a decision to be made in the spur of the moment. You just must start small and take little steps towards them. I don't want to use my experience to explain this but let me share a friend's. I met him at a wedding over three years ago, we were groomsmen to our mutual friend and from the...

Eye health: Keeping healthy Eyes

By -
Image
We know how important our eyes are to us. The eyes are delicate and no one will definitely want anything to compromise the eyesight. Today, I will share some important points about keeping one's eyes healthy. • Regular eye check ups and tests are necessary for ensuring good eye health, and will help to detect certain eye diseases like glaucoma which could be asymptomatic. Also, one's knowledge of his/her family's eye health history is necessary to pre-guard against hereditary eye diseases • Staring at screens (TV screen, computer screen, video games) could be unhealthy for one's eyes. It's advisable that one doesn't stare for too long. A rule called the 20/20/20 rule suggests that one should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to reduce eye strain. That implies that one should take his eyes off the screen at least once every 20 minutes and relax the eyes • The use of sunglasses is encouraged when the intensity of sunli...

Think Big by Ben Carson (with Cecil Murphey)

Image
This is a great inspiring book. I'm sure it must be a familiar one, especially since it's written by the well known neurosurgeon and politician (He's the current United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, under the Trump Administration), Benjamin Solomon Carson Sr. I read this book about four years ago. I'll share some few lessons I learnt from the book. • People aren't innately wrong-minded. Most times, general mental attitude is as a result of one's environment and what one opens up the mind to learn and believe. They need some reconditioning and reeducation. • Almost everyone makes mistakes in life. One important key is being "honest" with our mistakes. By being honest, we don't cover them up, but rather learn from them and allow others to learn from the mistakes as well. • No one can stop or block anyone from achieving what he or she wants to achieve or being what he or she wants to be. One can't blame any other person or...

Giving a Positive meaning to the WHY

By -
Image
To learn, unlearn and relearn is a great path to personal growth. The room was packed with "hungry folks" as the music played and men reminiscent through their yonder days. Step by step, the mind travelled back to where it all began. The events that shaped us unveiled. We reached out to the files, dusted them and gave a positive meaning to every snap shot captured. You see, nobody is really bad, people just do bad things. Ted Bundy was known to all who knew him as a charming man. He was a volunteer at a suicide hotline and a college graduate. However, he was executed for the murder of 40 women in the '80s. Poland's famous serial killer Karl Denke was an active member of his community and even was an organist in church. Hmmm!!! People do what they do because of what they have been exposed to. People do the best they can with what they know. When you see people behave the way they do, be rest assured that the innocent mind has captured some snap shots and has giv...

Success Story: Sir James Dyson

By -
Image
Sir James Dyson is a British inventor, industrial designer and the founder of Dyson company. He's presently 70 years old (born in 1947). He was involved in some inventions including the sea truck in 1970, the Ballbarrow (his first original invention) and the Wheelboat, which can travel on both land and water. James Dyson is best know for inventing the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner, the world's first bagless vacuum cleaner. Before it's invention, the hoover vacuum was in use but this vacuum had a dust bag which get clogged with dust and this affects its performance, as it losses suction. It took over 5,000 trials and failures and about 5 years (with support from his wife's salary as an art teacher) before Dyson succeeded. When he finally did at the age of 36, no distributor in the United Kingdom wanted to market his product. He had to market his product in Japan (1983) where it was awarded an industrial award. Three years later (1986), Dyson obtained his first US...
