Is Your Body Ahead Of Your Mind?

When it comes to Productivity, there are two kinds of people. Those whose bodies are ahead of their minds and those whose minds are ahead of their bodies. The first are reactive, the second are proactive.

To be reactive is to be controlled by the environment. You have no idea what you are going to do next. You have no plan. Not even a plan for what you will be doing tomorrow. You wait for whatever happens and then you react.
That baby gave you nine months notice before coming to this world but it was on the ninth month you suddenly realized that you've not done any shopping for what the baby will need after birth. Your body is ahead of your mind.
Have you seen people who are always running up and down? Every time they are about to leave the house they have to search everywhere for the car keys. They never have any place anything. Their bodies are ahead of their mind.

To be proactive is to be in control. And even for things outside of your control, you plan your response ahead of time. You have a plan for what you will do when you get to work. You carry your umbrella with you.
You have a plan for tomorrow. You have a plan for next year. And even when things don't go as planned, you have a plan for that as well. Your mind is ahead of your body.
You don't wait for the gas cylinder to be empty before you remember that you haven't filled the second cylinder which serves as spare. You ensure there is a second toothpaste tube before the current one gets finished.
There is a place for everything and everything is in its place. You don't waste time trying to find where you kept the car keys. Congratulations, your mind is ahead of your body.

These two people we just saw are both in the same world. They may even be working for the same organization but one will lead a more fulfilling life and a more comfortable life than the other. One is a leader, the other is not.

Is your body ahead of your mind? You might want to take a step back and re-organize your life. Get out of the reactive lane. Become a leader. Start by leading yourself and get your life together.
