Start with Self Love

First and foremost, how do you love others when you do not love yourself? You will always spill your hate or love for yourself into the way you treat others ultimately. Kid yourself not!

Secondly, how do you expect others to love you when you barely love yourself? You hate your height, you want her to love you for it? Or is it after you hate your height, you then want to love a person with same height? You must be confused!

You hate your size, and you want him to love you like that? You hate your looks, YOU HATE YOU, BUT YOU WANT ME TO LOVE YOU? How am I going to pull that off? I CAN ACTUALLY TRY, but truth is, the love you have for yourself or your hate of yourself is contagious. Like flu, it is soon passed on to those around you.

When you do not like yourself, you will always have issues with people who love you, or people who love you will always have issues with you, you will either scare them off or they will scare you off.

John: Jane, you look beautiful today.

Jane: please, don't even start. There's nothing beautiful about me - today, tomorrow or ever. Please, just leave me alone, don't patronize me.

John: But you look beautiful to me.

Jane: Drop it, please. I don't want to hear about a beauty that you have cooked up just to make me feel good, I know I am not beautiful, don't flatter me.

John: Okay then, it's alright, you are not beautiful.

John really thinks Jane is beautiful, but pretty soon, he will soon start seeing the ugliness in her, that she sees in herself; because she always reminds him of the ugliness he is trying to or has succeeded in looking past, and soon he will get tired and just give up all together.

Self love is the first love You must feel in life. You will never truly experience love till you have experienced self love.

Jesus said: "Love your neighbor as YOURSELF".
How dare you love others and not love yourself?
The way you love celebrities, love your mentors, your pastors, your friends, those you admire; You should love yourself in the same way, take care of yourself, value yourself, be proud of who you are and what you can do, be happy to be you; and then in that same way you love yourself, you can love others.

There will always be a relationship between how you love yourself, how you love others, and how others will love you. It all starts with self love!

Love yourself - tall, short, slim, fat, fair, dark, handsome or not handsome...

That is just life. Relax, for every one person that dislikes you, five more persons admire and like you, and if no one loves you, God loves You.

Yesterday (on the day this was written), I watched Pastor Chris Oyakilome live as he preached. He used his iPad to read out scriptures. Later in the day, I saw a post on Instagram, and one guy like that insulted Pastor Chris for using iPad, instead of his Bible. I laughed at the man's ignorance. I remember an Uncle of mine was invited to a Church. He went there with his iPad, and someone asked him: "Sir, where is your Bible?” He showed him his 10.1 inches Pad. “But Sir,” he said, “This is not a Bible, this is iPad, you need to carry your Bible. You're not a good preacher, if you don't preach with your Bible," one of the pastors said. Another cool movie to talk about. It's based on the novel by Robin Palmer. Geek Charming stars Sarah Hyland (Dylan Schoenfield), Matt Prokop (Josh Rosen), Sasha Pieterse (Amy Loubalu), among others. Josh's movie on a human subject (Dylan) was a big challenge to execute. Most of the other persons involved in the Puget sound film festival, picked a non human subject. As an aspiring film maker, one of a very young age, a documentary on a human subject was something so big and rare, and very challenging. Josh picked up the challenge, one which didn't just help him win the festival, but also helped him discover the real personality of Dylan; how her mum meant so much to her and how the loss of her mum when she was eight years old had affected her and shaped her social life. I read this book about four years ago, and it was a big turning point for me. Much was learnt, I'll share few of them today. You should check it out. The lessons: Death begins when one stops learning, and ageing starts from one's mind, not one's body. One remains young as far as he or she keeps learning; One starts crashing once he or she stops pushing. One's ability to excel mentally is paralyzed once one stops trying and accepts that the results obtained is the best he or she can attain; One's life becomes a burden when one's life is void of progress. And when one's brain isn't working towards anything, it becomes a weight on the body. The brain is motivated when it sees something ahead, something to work towards for; One's success does not demand prayer and fasting, as much as engaging one's senses positively. WAEC result was out and all of my friends took an early trip to the cyber café to print theirs out. It was 2006. We didn't have smart phones to plug us into their website.
