To be Successful, One must love Patience and Enjoy the Process

There has never been more pressure than it is now for young entrepreneurs to become millionaires.

So because I post on Facebook daily, friends and family assume that I'm one multimillion dollar ultra successful entrepreneur (which I am anyways).

The other day I was with my best friend and he asked me jokingly, "when will you marry?"
My response was, "heck! At age 30 I should have travelled to at least 10 countries in the world and you're here talking of marriage", "who marriage epp?" We both laughed.
What does this mean? Pressure! There's pressure to marry. Pressure to "hammer". Pressure to become a millionaire. Pressure to start "supporting" the family. Damn it! Pressure everywhere!

So you see young people running here and there with the desire to "make it in life". Suddenly, a graphic designer somewhere in Rumuola feels he's a failure because he doesn't have up to 1M in his account. Everyone seems to be on a mission to prove to their family and friends that they've finally arrived. Pressure everywhere!

A young writer somewhere in Maiduguri feels like a disaster because she doesn't have close to 300 Instagram followers like her friend with 10K fans, who displays her boobs on Instagram like a wall clock.
Young men and women have been taught so much about making money that they have forgotten how to build businesses. They've been sold the overnight success fever that nobody cares to learn simple social and business etiquette. We now have young men with so much money but very little sense of value and responsibility. Not many are willing to learn the deep things of life. The universal law of success like integrity, hard work, consistency, faithfulness, excellence and so on are hardly talked about.
I have a friend who's always agitating that she's not doing enough. She wants to be Tara Feladurotoye overnight. She thinks her baby steps are not taking her anywhere. Hence, she's always on the move to conquer the world.

One thing you must realize is that, you might not "make it" for the next 5 to 10 years. The universe cannot throw its precious gem to a baby. She has to test your integrity. The bigger the dream, the harder the test and the longer the wait. This is not always the case but if we see it this way, we will be humble and patient. We will stop measuring our progress with someone's Instagram and Facebook pictures.

If you want to be successful for a long time, then you must love patience and enjoy the process. The failure, sadness, the setbacks, the disappointment are all part of the process. They are the foundation of success. Forget about all the social media success stories and focus on your hustle. Craft your craft! Go for depth!
If you have N50,000 now in your account, don't feel less successful or fulfilled. Enjoy the days of little beginning. Aspire to become successful but don't be under unnecessary pressure to "make it". The dream should not be to "make it". The dream is to be a blessing to humanity.
