LATEST FACEBOOK ALGORITHM AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS

If you use Facebook for business (which everyone should), you shouldn't be new to Facebook algorithm.
For people who don't know what it is, Facebook algorithm is the system that decides the posts that users sees on their newsfeed. It decides the post to show more people and those that aren't worthy.
Facebook is always changing and new parameters are out to govern users experience and the things they see.

My mission is to help you understand, stay abreast and ethically bypass the formulas that governs the Facebook news feed.

Firstly, Facebook is prioritizing posts from friends and family more than every other posts. In fact, educating and entertaining posts takes second and third positions respectively.
Facebook is interested in making people stay connected with people and content that are peculiar to them. This means, your content (on your wall and Facebook page) must help you win friends, educate, entertain and ultimately make sales. This is determined by how people react to your content (the like, love, wow, sad, angry features are not figure head). In essence, your content needs engagement for it to be seen.

Secondly, posts with lots of likes, comments and shares will be shown more because Facebook believes only compelling content gets that sort of engagement especially within short time. If you still suffer from lack of likes, comments and engagement, Facebook wouldn't be helping your course as it will even show your posts less often.

Thirdly, Facebook will show content with real, educating and entertaining stories more. I'm sure story tellers are excited already. Facebook prioritize users experience and is making changes to make sure people get to see interesting and entertaining stories. If you don't know how to tell stories, welcome to the jungle.

Furthermore, Facebook will show advertisement posts extremely less. Overly promotional content won't see light of the day. Mark is not interested in people pushing out salesy and spammy content to make people buy products, app or services.
If you are the - come and buy, come and buy type, OYO IS YOUR CASE.

BUT, THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS. If you are good with content marketing and can create content that sells subtly, you are the real MVP because your posts will be shown more and more.

Also, if your own way to grab people's attention is to use click bait titles or headlines, the new rule is that your post will be penalized. It will either be shown less or deleted. And pages who use these types of headlines will be banned from using Facebook ads.

You don't know click bait headlines?
''Revealed! This is who Oladipupo is dating "
Calm down, I don't know too, tell me when you know. I'm also curious. Or "This woman died when she opened her Facebook app, must read!"
Now, the game has changed. Hammer will begin to fall on you.
Your headline needs to stair curiosity, tell benefits and not trick people.

Lastly for this post; post that ask for like, comments and shares will be seen less in news feed.
"Please like, comment and share" won't work again. Facebook believes people will like, comment and share your content if they found it worthy. So you get penalized for requesting.

For those who are have mastered the act of using engaging call to action would fly in this regime.

Ehn ehn, copy and paste gang and those of you that shares false news - "See Oladipupo beautiful 10 years old son" (I don't even know if it's true or false) you have the news feed to contend with.

Wrapping this up, the new parameters encourages real, entertaining and educating content. Content marketing is getting the green light with the new rules. Your content needs to be compelling and actionable for it to be seen more.

Post engagement is now very important. What this means for you is that, you either learn to write compelling and actionable content (which everyone should) or you engage the services of a good content marketer.

What do you think of these rules? What have you been doing wrongly? Feel free to share your thoughts.

TECHNIQUES TO "BOSS" FACEBOOK ALGORITHM AND HOW TO BOOST YOUR ENGAGEMENT

It's no longer news that Facebook decided to show content from pages to only 10% of the page's fan base. Organic reach is in steep decline and Facebook will even show content from your competitors more often if it has more engagement than yourself.
This means it's no longer a level playing ground as Facebook will even give competitors upper hand on one another.

Does this means that organic reach is officially dead? No, in fact, if you know your ways, you will get your content seen even more than your total fan base... Lets get to it!

Don't do the following things:

1) Don't use pictures that pretends to be Video: I'm sure you've seen those pictures with play sign in the middle, you get penalized hard for it as you won't be seen to be a credible brand.

2) Don't use text only status: Plan texts are ranked the least. Do well to add graphics to your post..

So what should you do?

1) Less works best – those of you that post about ten times a day and more... I greet you. You think you are doing something great not knowing you are doing yourself a disservice.
Facebook ranks you less if you post often and get little engagement on such content. That is why top brands reduce the number of times that they post to increase their organic reach.
By posting more often, your chances of bringing out compelling content are reduced and that's why you post junks.
Having one thought provoking content per day performs best than ten junks. That is why I post once or twice per day.

2) Posts from complete pages get more engagement: Facebook is vexing you people don't give detailed info about your pages and it's shows your page less.

3) Out perform your competitors – the game is on guys, pages with more fan base in similar niche enjoys the attention.

4) Use video often – Facebook is encouraging video by showing it more in news feed. It will show more when you are live than after going live. The time people spend on your videos helps you rank better... O. Y. O if people bounce bank on joining your stream.

5) Content curation win you the game: Now, this is something else. I'm sure you don't want to be promoting your competitors stuffs but Facebook will give you greater organic reach on curated content than your own content.

6) Comment replies: You people serve food but you are not ready to pack your plates. You post content but don't engage. Well done.
The more you reply comments, the more your content trend on news feed.
Little secret, personalize your comments.

Wrapping this up, every new changes are pointing to effective content marketing strategies. The writing on the wall is clear enough, step up your content marketing game or get lost.
From your title down to your cta must be ethical, compelling and actionable. Educating, interesting and inspiring are the new mantra. Fortunately, we've got something in Stock to help you win at content marketing.
I'm throwing this open, what are your thoughts on these changes?
