The Battle has been Won, We are just enforcing the defeat

By -

As Christians, we are not in any battle with the devil. There is no battle again. Christ defeated the devil and made a public example of him. Why still fight an already won battle?

The only thing we do is confirming and enforcing the defeat. In the military it is called a mop up operation. We are only soldiers assigned to our immediate environments to ensure criminals don't infiltrate the already conquered territory. We have the upper hand and full control. They tremble at the sight of us. We are in charge, we are the government. Live with this understanding.
(Colossians 2:10-20)

Relationship Series (Introduction)

By -
Some years ago, I began to have some thoughts about life. Everyday, we come across people who put up false happiness. Everyone's trying to be truly happy, and everyone surely deserves that, because there's no life without happiness. But a lot of persons are much unhappy inside than they seem to be. Sometimes the pain they feel deep inside gets to a threshold, where they can't keep on putting up false happiness, and their true feelings are more often expressed. For a good number of persons, they redefine happiness, and their definition of happiness does not bring them true happiness, though it feels so at the beginning, but at the end, it only adds to the pain they already feel. At the same time, their search for happiness causes pains to others who are averagely happy or whose happiness is below average. Relationships are part of life. Everything about life thrives on relationship. For every society to be progressive, there must be a greater part of the society with posi...

Why Salt kills earthworms?

By -
Image
A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Before that, I'll share some points about earthworms: - They are in the lumbricus genus, there are various species of earthworms, but the common earthworm's scientific name is lumbricus terrestris - Their digestive system runs through the length of their skin - Earthworms respire through their skin - They are hermaphrodites (each one carries both male and female sex organs) - They lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton , but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton. Okay, let's talk about salt and earthworms: Earthworms respire and secrete mucus through their skins. Salt (sodium chloride) has the ability of absorbing moisture (desiccant). When a large quantity of salt i...

The Art of Leadership (by Daniel Otabor)

I am a member of "The Let's Talk About Series" community. I'll be sharing notes from Daniel Otabor on The Art of Leadership, a lesson delivered this year, in the month of January. Let's Talk About Series is a personal and career development discussion platform that discuss diverse topics to help boost people's productivity and build personal confidence. They are passionate about self discovery, and believe the strife for personal development helps in adding value to one's life; creating opportunities and setting priorities for the areas that make them most effective. You can check out the community on Facebook. ---------- Daniel Otabor : You know guys, Leadership is like the dilemma of life. It is both easy to understand and complex to grasp. Just like humans. This is because truly, Leadership begins and ends with understanding your purpose first, and then leading it. There was a time I told an audience that as long as you breathe, you are a leader....

Your job is to identify the problems of people and find a Solution to it

By -
Image
As an entrepreneur, your job is not to create problems for people. Your job is to identify the problems of people and find a solution to it. Listen to every conversation, on social media, forums, meetings, blog comments, etcetera. Pay attention to their questions, frustrations, complains, desires, goals, fears and dreams. It is from these emotions that you build products and services from. And when your sales copy contains the exact word these people use to vent their frustrations, you have won 90% of their attention. The other 10% would be determined by the benefits, urgency, pricy and other things that make people buy from you. So, you shouldn't spend time thinking about what niche to focus on. You shouldn't be thinking niche. You should be thinking problems and solutions. Whether you want to start a blog, a business, a podcast, a company or whatever. Let it be based on people's problems and desires. People do not care about your high sounding title. What they care...

Follow your priorities and the things that gives you Fulfillment

Oga, I'm carrying you for free... The cloud was rumbling, the sky was giving away it's brightness, droplet of water were beginning to escape the sky. The lecturer kept explaining the concept behind excelling in a case study. I had lost touch, my mind was on the street thinking how I would get home. I couldn't wait for the class to end. I put up some stunt to make the lecturer call it a day. As efico, he finally set us free. I packed my writing materials at the speed of light, I dashed out to hop on the next available means of transportation. The roads were flooded by then, motorists splashing water here and there. After 15 minutes of waving, I decided to do some exercise. I stood a minute walk from where I was, the day was giving way for darkness to dominate. I still couldn't get any means of transportation. I was beginning to feel the cold. Thankfully, a bike stopped in front of me. "Oga, I'm going to (fill in the gap)..." "Boss, your money na ...

To be Successful, One must love Patience and Enjoy the Process

There has never been more pressure than it is now for young entrepreneurs to become millionaires. So because I post on Facebook daily, friends and family assume that I'm one multimillion dollar ultra successful entrepreneur (which I am anyways). The other day I was with my best friend and he asked me jokingly, "when will you marry?" My response was, "heck! At age 30 I should have travelled to at least 10 countries in the world and you're here talking of marriage", "who marriage epp?" We both laughed. What does this mean? Pressure! There's pressure to marry. Pressure to "hammer". Pressure to become a millionaire. Pressure to start "supporting" the family. Damn it! Pressure everywhere! So you see young people running here and there with the desire to "make it in life". Suddenly, a graphic designer somewhere in Rumuola feels he's a failure because he doesn't have up to 1M in his account. Everyone seems to...

Nature versus Nuture

By -
Image
Your physical features can be identified as identical to that of your parents, like your eyes from your father, and the hair color from your mother. However, your personality and talents may have come not from your father or mother. The environment where you grew up may have a lasting effect or influence on that way you talk, behave and respond to the things around you. Culled from Sarah Mae Cero Scientists argue over the influence of nature which is our genetic make-up and nurture which is our environment. However the argument is basically to determine which influences us more. But they agree that each plays a role in contributing to who we are today. As Christians, we are caught up in this nature versus nurture interplay. We were made after his nurture, but when sin interfered our genetic make up was corrupted (a missense mutation). When Christ came, he went about removing the codon that started coding for sin. He restored our make up. We thus have a new nature within us. No longe...

• Eyes are the second most complex organ after the brain. •  Your eyes start to develop two weeks after you are conceived. • A fingerprint has 40 unique characteristics, but an iris has 256; a reason retina scans are increasingly being used for security purposes. • To protect our eyes, they are positioned in a hollowed eye socket, while eyebrows prevent sweat dripping into your eyes and eyelashes keep dirt out of your eyes. • Your eyeballs stay the same size from birth to death, while your nose and ears continue to grow. • An eye is composed of more than 2 million working parts. • Only 1/6 of the human eyeball is exposed. • Corneas are the only tissues that don’t have blood. • People who are blind can see their dreams if they weren’t born blind. • An eye cannot be transplanted. More than 1 million nerve fibers connect each eye to the brain and currently we’re not able to reconstruct those connections. Qoute: "An interesting thing about science is that it is true whether...

When You Serve, You Scent

By -
Image
Leaders are keen to service. Selfless individuals bring tangible change to their community. Service at any level grows and capacitate you. When you serve, you scent. And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren. And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge. And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.
