Place Your Light on a lamp stand and let it Shine

I was on one of my favorite spots reading with my phone, when two young ladies, one in bum shorts (I hate when ladies wear this outside) just showcasing themselves in front of me. I lifted my head and looked, then smiled and shook my head as if I didn't see anything. I continued my reading. After plenty effort to gain my attention, by one of them, they advised themselves.

One said to the other, why you just dey show yourself, which boy weh go call you for here? I smiled again, then two ladies beside me joined in the discussion. No be boy dey here, one of them mentioned. The other lady replied her saying, "this one na pastor o, em no get time". And as if that was not enough, the other lady went on to ask, "abi em no get prick, no be man em be?". This time I was shocked. I smiled again and pretended as if I didn't hear what she said. In my heart I replied, I have prick but my prick is under control, my prick does not control me nor dictate for me.

Why my story? Simple. When you find yourself in a new place, don't try to blend in by hiding your light under a bowl, place it on a lamp stand and let it shine. When you define your values plainly, it will save you temptations even when you are weak. The defenses you have put in place will protect you but know your limits and when to apply the Joseph's law of escape velocity.

We are Lights!
