Relationship Series (Introduction)

By -
Some years ago, I began to have some thoughts about life. Everyday, we come across people who put up false happiness. Everyone's trying to be truly happy, and everyone surely deserves that, because there's no life without happiness. But a lot of persons are much unhappy inside than they seem to be. Sometimes the pain they feel deep inside gets to a threshold, where they can't keep on putting up false happiness, and their true feelings are more often expressed. For a good number of persons, they redefine happiness, and their definition of happiness does not bring them true happiness, though it feels so at the beginning, but at the end, it only adds to the pain they already feel. At the same time, their search for happiness causes pains to others who are averagely happy or whose happiness is below average. Relationships are part of life. Everything about life thrives on relationship. For every society to be progressive, there must be a greater part of the society with posi...

Why Salt kills earthworms?

By -
Image
A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Before that, I'll share some points about earthworms: - They are in the lumbricus genus, there are various species of earthworms, but the common earthworm's scientific name is lumbricus terrestris - Their digestive system runs through the length of their skin - Earthworms respire through their skin - They are hermaphrodites (each one carries both male and female sex organs) - They lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton , but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton. Okay, let's talk about salt and earthworms: Earthworms respire and secrete mucus through their skins. Salt (sodium chloride) has the ability of absorbing moisture (desiccant). When a large quantity of salt i...

To be Successful is to be Intentional

By -
Image
To be successful is to be intentional. When I say intentional, I mean to be deliberate. Success are not for mere wishers. You plan for it and you work for it. If wishes were the magnetic properties that drag Success to a man, then the fairy tale story wouldn't have been fairy tale, cause every lady would want to have her happy ever after, every servant would want to be the king with the most beautiful girl as wife and every warrior wouldn't need to step outside the boundary of their village for warfare. You see, we could sit all day and whine about how things ought to be but if we don't stand up to "Our" responsibilities nothing will ever change. I'm specific on the term "our" because a lot of persons and mostly young folks have got it all wrong. You have a role to play! Create your niche and build value. In general, Success could be the actualization of a set goal or task but in the eagles view true success lies in building and adding value to th...

Should Christian women wear pants?

By -
Image
The question about whether Christian women should wear pants or slacks is an issue that is raised about externals when the life of the child of God should rather be about a spiritual relationship based upon our position in Christ as believers. The obedience of a child of God is not measured by what clothing we wear but by our walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). When looking at “doubtful things," we need to use Scripture in context for the principles that will help us walk as believers, which means considering the dispensation and the whole counsel of God and not taking passages out of context. There is a passage in the Old Testament that speaks about a woman wearing men's clothing: "A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this" (Deuteronomy 22:5). The context of this passage is the second giving of the law to the nation of Israel as they were poised to enter the Promised Land. De...

I Lost Myself, I Found Myself, Again!

I was nothing special. I get that. I come from humble beginnings. Zero silver spoon in my mouth. In school, I didn’t fit in. Wasn’t given much of a chance. A teacher told me I’d never make a head-on in writing. I didn’t believe him (Trust your instincts versus your critics). I kept on moving ahead. I understood the power of ferocious learning – reading books constantly, studying the best consistently and putting in the effort relentlessly. I made seemingly insignificant small acts that to me revealed a beautiful progress. Quietly proving my naysayers knew nothing. Anyone can put someone down. Heroes lift others up. Thanks to another teacher of mine. In Jss2 – my Yoruba teacher. She saw something in me that nearly no one had. She encouraged me – and helped me believe in myself. Via her, my self-perception changed. My interior story transformed. I’ll always revere her for this. I've had disposed papers where I penned my writings. I couldn't get any published. I started with...

Don't let the experiences define You, no matter how much it tries to

Some people are afraid to hope because they have been hurt so much in life. They have had so many disappointments, they don't think they can face the pain of another one. Therefore, they refuse to hope so they won't be disappointed. This avoidance of hope is a type of protection against being hurt. Disappointment hurts! So rather than be hurt again, many people simply refuse to hope or to believe that anything good will ever happen to them. This type of behavior sets up a negative lifestyle. Everything becomes negative because the thoughts are negative. Remember Proverbs 23:7 – For as he (a person) thinks in his heart, so is he. By: Abeyi Kingsley Onoriode
