Geek Charming (2011)

Another cool movie to talk about. It's based on the novel by Robin Palmer.
Geek Charming stars Sarah Hyland (Dylan Schoenfield), Matt Prokop (Josh Rosen), Sasha Pieterse (Amy Loubalu), among others.

Some things I learnt from the movie:

• Challenging Yourself to something different and new, can teach you more and help bring out some uniqueness in You.
Josh's movie on a human subject (Dylan) was a big challenge to execute. Most of the other persons involved in the Puget sound film festival, picked a non human subject. As an aspiring film maker, one of a very young age, a documentary on a human subject was something so big and rare, and very challenging. Josh picked up the challenge, one which didn't just help him win the festival, but also helped him discover the real personality of Dylan; how her mum meant so much to her and how the loss of her mum when she was eight years old had affected her and shaped her social life.
Josh wasn't the only one to learn from the challenge, Dylan did as well. It opened her understanding to friendship, and it made an impact on her that helped her change the attitude she's been putting up for some years before then, to a more nicer, socially nice attitude.

• "When Asking for help, Appeal to People's Self-interest, never to their Mercy or Gratitude" That's law 13 in the 48 laws of Power!
This is generally true. People tend to do things or support things which interests them, and which they enjoy. Josh applied this law to get Dylan. She needed to win Blossom Queen, and Josh needed to win the film festival. There was a synergy of interest, which could only be achieved by they both working together. That's how it happens in businesses as well. A construction company won't employ an actor or comedian because there's no synergy of interest.
If one wants to build something that will work out and turn out big, build a team of persons with similar interest. In fact, choose your team based on those who have similar interest and ambitions as you, and who aren't just interested in the pay or salary. If a team is made up of persons with same interest, one would have little stress in coordinating the team and success would be easier and faster achieved.

• People can't be truly qualified by what you see them to be. There are hidden secrets/truths about people, and it's only when you get to understand the hidden truths, that you can actually qualify them, and also bring out the best in them. Lot of persons, in fact, probably everyone puts up defensive attitudes, a means of self-protection, from some truths about themselves which people wouldn't understand or appreciate properly.
