Big Achievers

By -

I have learnt this common trait among Big Achievers. They don't get too much comfort; they always keep pushing hard and are never satisfied with whatever height they attain.
They're ever hot and steamy, looking for the next opportunity and gaining more heights.
Hustle in their Blood, Ambition is stuck in their bones. They dare every circumstance and love the glory of success.

How I got out of paid employment in 11 months

It is true that you achieve what you put your mind to. January 27 2017, I was seated in the office to have my final interview. I have read lots of interview questions and answers online before then like I was going to get a 10 million naira job. Staying without job for a year was the lowest point of my life. I answered every questions pragmatically and then the very big question! How long do you see yourself working with us? "I can only guaranty that I will be here in the next one year", I replied. I didn't even last a year because I have my purpose and focus in view. I knew exactly what took me there so I wasn't that employee who has the mindset of retirement. In fact, I never participated in anything long term there. Maybe you also want to have total control of your time to play a bigger game. The following steps will guide you. Find your purpose: Every decisions I took springed from my discovery of Oladipupo. Though I was jobless in 2016, I used that year t...

Quickly, how are you? Hope not as bad as the mentality of a Nigerian university graduate? If not, listen to me. ----- Was it not on the convocation arena of one of the 'big' Universities of the country that I asked my friend, Daniel, "Nna what next?" He looked at me with a readily astonished face and said: "O boy na NYSC nah". Two years after, he was left with nothing but waiting for Yakubu Gowon to call him up for NYSC. You see, thank God I have been fortunate enough to see the world out of where I was meant to be. Unfortunately also, I lived a lot of my life with people who were too traditional – People who are used to doing one thing the same way from the beginning of the life of their ancestors to the day they die. Growing up in Africa is worst than growing up in darkness. In fact, it's indescribable – the mental limitation of a typical African youth growing up in this third world. They see what they believe they cannot do. The only way to the de...

Lifestyle and Health Quotes, this Week

When a body is sick, it is treated more effectively from the inside than from the outside (King Mohammed VI of Morocco) The body is like a piano, and happiness is like music. It is needful to have the instrument in good order (Henry Ward Beecher) Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. If you have a healthy lifestyle, your diet and nutrition are set, and you're working out, you're going to feel good (Jason Statham) The body needs its rest, and sleep is extremely important in any health regimen. There should be three main things: eating, exercise and sleep. All three together in the right balance make for a truly healthy lifestyle (Rohit Shetty)

Geek Charming (2011)

Another cool movie to talk about. It's based on the novel by Robin Palmer. Geek Charming stars Sarah Hyland (Dylan Schoenfield), Matt Prokop (Josh Rosen), Sasha Pieterse (Amy Loubalu), among others. Photo Credit: Wikipedia Some things I learnt from the movie: • Challenging Yourself to something different and new, can teach you more and help bring out some uniqueness in You. Josh's movie on a human subject (Dylan) was a big challenge to execute. Most of the other persons involved in the Puget sound film festival, picked a non human subject. As an aspiring film maker, one of a very young age, a documentary on a human subject was something so big and rare, and very challenging. Josh picked up the challenge, one which didn't just help him win the festival, but also helped him discover the real personality of Dylan; how her mum meant so much to her and how the loss of her mum when she was eight years old had affected her and shaped her social life. Josh wasn...

Why Salt kills earthworms?

By -
Image
A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Before that, I'll share some points about earthworms: - They are in the lumbricus genus, there are various species of earthworms, but the common earthworm's scientific name is lumbricus terrestris - Their digestive system runs through the length of their skin - Earthworms respire through their skin - They are hermaphrodites (each one carries both male and female sex organs) - They lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton , but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton. Okay, let's talk about salt and earthworms: Earthworms respire and secrete mucus through their skins. Salt (sodium chloride) has the ability of absorbing moisture (desiccant). When a large quantity of salt i...

By -
Image
This part focuses on diet and eye health. Good eye health requires the consumption of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc, beta-carotene, vitamins A, C and E, etcetera. Deficiency of these nutrients contributes to poor eye health Food sources that are positive for eye health include; - Green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale and others - Fruits like citruses and berries (oranges, etcetera). Also almonds, carrots, tomatoes, mangoes, pawpaw - Fatty fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel. - Non meat protein sources like eggs, nuts, beans, etcetera - Diary products like milk and yoghurt Unhealthy foods such as processed foods, foods containing saturated fats, or foods that are high in sugar, should be limited and less consumed. Stay healthy! Stay Positive!!

The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind (William James) Never underestimate your power to change yourself (H. Jackson Brown, Jr) A positive attitude is a person's passport to a better tomorrow (Unknown) Success is a state of mind. If you want Success, start thinking of yourself as a Success (Dr. Joyce Brothers) Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world (George Bernard Shaw) Attitudes are a secret power working 24 hours a day, for good or bad (Unknown)

The Power Of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

By -
Image
Today, I'll share few of what I learnt from this inspiring book by Norman Vincent Peale. It's an amazing and inspiring book, which I feel a lot of persons have read. But if you haven't, it's worth checking out. It's amazing to know that Peale's book is still inspiring lives long after written, and after he's gone (Peale died in 1993 at the age of 95 years). • Nothing is inherently powerful. But WE are powerful, and we can give strength and power to whatever we choose to give such to. One's mind gives strength and power to circumstances, things, situations. And the more one's mind focus on something, it gives greater strength and power to such thing. And when strength and power is given to something, that thing has some control and authority even over us, the giver of the power, and would exercise that authority until one recognizes it and decides to take away such authority. It's then left for us to decide what we should give greater strength a...

Principle versus Formula

By -
Image
Productivity is better than Activity and Principle is better than formula. Principles will birth productivity whereas Formulas will only produce activity. For example, It is possible to sleep four hours a day and achieve significantly less than someone who sleeps eight hours a day, while claiming anybody that sleeps above four hours is lazy. When it comes to success, there might be principles but not formulas (I mean mindless copying). Some people just copy too much, not seeing that a lot of factors are involved. The most important thing is to learn the principles and tailor it to your unique situation. Make your work time count. I remember students back in school who claimed to be reading all night (and they were) but had little or nothing to show in their result and there were others who never went through that stress and made straight A's. It is good to look out for working formulas but it's more important to know what works for you and so you can manipulate the formula...
