Relationship Series (Introduction)

By -
Some years ago, I began to have some thoughts about life. Everyday, we come across people who put up false happiness. Everyone's trying to be truly happy, and everyone surely deserves that, because there's no life without happiness. But a lot of persons are much unhappy inside than they seem to be. Sometimes the pain they feel deep inside gets to a threshold, where they can't keep on putting up false happiness, and their true feelings are more often expressed. For a good number of persons, they redefine happiness, and their definition of happiness does not bring them true happiness, though it feels so at the beginning, but at the end, it only adds to the pain they already feel. At the same time, their search for happiness causes pains to others who are averagely happy or whose happiness is below average. Relationships are part of life. Everything about life thrives on relationship. For every society to be progressive, there must be a greater part of the society with posi...

How I got out of paid employment in 11 months

It is true that you achieve what you put your mind to. January 27 2017, I was seated in the office to have my final interview. I have read lots of interview questions and answers online before then like I was going to get a 10 million naira job. Staying without job for a year was the lowest point of my life. I answered every questions pragmatically and then the very big question! How long do you see yourself working with us? "I can only guaranty that I will be here in the next one year", I replied. I didn't even last a year because I have my purpose and focus in view. I knew exactly what took me there so I wasn't that employee who has the mindset of retirement. In fact, I never participated in anything long term there. Maybe you also want to have total control of your time to play a bigger game. The following steps will guide you. Find your purpose: Every decisions I took springed from my discovery of Oladipupo. Though I was jobless in 2016, I used that year t...

Geek Charming (2011)

By -
Image
Another cool movie to talk about. It's based on the novel by Robin Palmer. Geek Charming stars Sarah Hyland (Dylan Schoenfield), Matt Prokop (Josh Rosen), Sasha Pieterse (Amy Loubalu), among others. Photo Credit: Wikipedia Some things I learnt from the movie: • Challenging Yourself to something different and new, can teach you more and help bring out some uniqueness in You. Josh's movie on a human subject (Dylan) was a big challenge to execute. Most of the other persons involved in the Puget sound film festival, picked a non human subject. As an aspiring film maker, one of a very young age, a documentary on a human subject was something so big and rare, and very challenging. Josh picked up the challenge, one which didn't just help him win the festival, but also helped him discover the real personality of Dylan; how her mum meant so much to her and how the loss of her mum when she was eight years old had affected her and shaped her social life. Josh wasn...

The Art of Leadership (by Daniel Otabor)

I am a member of "The Let's Talk About Series" community. I'll be sharing notes from Daniel Otabor on The Art of Leadership, a lesson delivered this year, in the month of January. Let's Talk About Series is a personal and career development discussion platform that discuss diverse topics to help boost people's productivity and build personal confidence. They are passionate about self discovery, and believe the strife for personal development helps in adding value to one's life; creating opportunities and setting priorities for the areas that make them most effective. You can check out the community on Facebook. ---------- Daniel Otabor : You know guys, Leadership is like the dilemma of life. It is both easy to understand and complex to grasp. Just like humans. This is because truly, Leadership begins and ends with understanding your purpose first, and then leading it. There was a time I told an audience that as long as you breathe, you are a leader....

Men are same, wicked and heartless

By -
Image
Hi Lady, the problem isn't that all men are same, wicked and heartless. I think the problem lies in Your :- 1. Indecision to define your kind of man, probably due to self deceit and focus on what you will get (misplaced focus); 2. Faulty mindset: It's so baffling how people castigate their future and still expect the best out of it. If you've been brain washed by that your friend with failed relationship(s) that never told you her own bad side of the story, why not stay off the way? 3. Insensitivity to clearly identify him from the first day. One question no woman has been able to answer me till date is: What exactly do you consider before approving and entrusting your heart to a man? His appearance, six packs, money? The truth is that most times, the focus is always on what you'll get and at such, many become so blinded by the good treat and the gifts, "the Lannisters' gifts" ('Game of Thrones' fans should relate). These are actually your doo...

MindSet by – Jude Onyekachukwu Igwe

Quickly, how are you? Hope not as bad as the mentality of a Nigerian university graduate? If not, listen to me. ----- Was it not on the convocation arena of one of the 'big' Universities of the country that I asked my friend, Daniel, "Nna what next?" He looked at me with a readily astonished face and said: "O boy na NYSC nah". Two years after, he was left with nothing but waiting for Yakubu Gowon to call him up for NYSC. You see, thank God I have been fortunate enough to see the world out of where I was meant to be. Unfortunately also, I lived a lot of my life with people who were too traditional – People who are used to doing one thing the same way from the beginning of the life of their ancestors to the day they die. Growing up in Africa is worst than growing up in darkness. In fact, it's indescribable – the mental limitation of a typical African youth growing up in this third world. They see what they believe they cannot do. The only way to the de...

Why Salt kills earthworms?

By -
Image
A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Before that, I'll share some points about earthworms: - They are in the lumbricus genus, there are various species of earthworms, but the common earthworm's scientific name is lumbricus terrestris - Their digestive system runs through the length of their skin - Earthworms respire through their skin - They are hermaphrodites (each one carries both male and female sex organs) - They lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton , but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton. Okay, let's talk about salt and earthworms: Earthworms respire and secrete mucus through their skins. Salt (sodium chloride) has the ability of absorbing moisture (desiccant). When a large quantity of salt i...

Understanding the Working of Grace

By -
Image
Grace makes you supernatural, not moral. The ability to say no to evil or anything wrong morally isn't by grace but by conscience exercised. When Paul the apostle said in Titus 2:12 that grace teaches us to deny ungodliness, he is talking about the supernatural life grace gets us into. Not to steal or to avoid stealing is a moral thing. You don't need grace for that. You don't need grace in order to start talking good or bad. Your conscience is there to pilot you on such activities. Joseph didn't overcome Portiphar's wife by grace, because Joseph hadn't the Spirit in him. It wasn't grace that taught Joseph to eschewed the sex trap, but his conscience! An unbeliever can deny immortality, evil things and even barbaric attitudes, yet he or she doesn't know what grace is or hasn't be born again. You don't need grace to deny wrong acts! Many unbelievers are denying wrong acts on daily basis! However, to deny ungodliness is to live supernaturall...

The need for marriage between the Physical, Spiritual and Mental

By -
Image
Free from what fought me mentally... I love this line by Kierra Sheard. Some of the battles we fight are not spiritual but mental. Even the devil knows that he has no access to your Spirit courtesy of salvation but still compensates himself in the mental realm. For one to operate fully at creations installed capacity, there is need for a marriage between the physical, spiritual and mental part of being. Knowing this, the devil is happy in causing a distortion in the flow and blending of these impulses. The greatest form of deliverance is not casting out a demon from a man, but loading him with knowledge. And you shall know the truth and it will make you free. I stand in my office and I decree freedom from every mental oppression, every force that prevents you from thinking at installed capacity, that prevents you from utilizing your mind to continue the process of creation, I command them to stop their activities in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. By: Raphael Donanu
