Success Story: Stephen King

I will do a short one on Stephen King, highlighting a key factor in his success.

Stephen King, currently 69 years (born 1947) is a successful writer, who has published over 50 novels and 200 short stories. He published several of his books under the pen name, Richard Bachman. His books has sold over 350 million copies worldwide. Some of his books has also won king several awards.

That was just a short summary of King's Success. But as we should know, behind every success lies some failures. And most often, the failures comes at the start of that great thing. Once one can stay strong and fight till the breakthrough comes, then the success gradually begins officially.

King's first novel "Carrie" was rejected by 30 publishers. One of the publishers said:
"We are not interested in science fiction which deals with negative utopias. They do not sell."
He almost gave up, he threw the manuscripts for the novel in the trash (He was 20 years old), but his wife, Tabitha Spruce, retrieved it and pushed him to finish it and resubmit it. It finally got accepted by publishing house Doubleday in 1973 (He was 26 years old). And from there, the success officially began.

So, when next you feel like giving up, think about it, and give it some extra try. Similarly, when next a friend is on that verge, you can push him/her up!
