It's better being neutral in certain situations

I came across this on my Facebook wall and felt it's worth sharing. It just reminded me of a number of incidents, both personal and non personal where one sides with his or her friend, with or without checking up who's right and wrong. It's better to be neutral most times and decide how to handle stuffs like this. Don't form loyalty when you know you're on the wrong side of the issue. Rather, try to get your friend to understand, and when he or she doesn't, stand your ground! You're a unique person and not the shadow of someone else's personality!

Success Story: How I went from a CGPA of 2.29 to 4.00 within a Semester

This is a Success Story shared by Olusola O'sola Fapohunda, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. ----- In early 2010, I went with about four other guys in my department - to visit our level registration officer. We wanted to check our result. Each one of us, was with a paper and a pen. The lecturer in charge asked for our matriculation numbers and one after the other, he was reeling off grades, GPA and CGPA. He eventually got to me and I heard a digit that sounded like I've been shot. God! Me! 2.29. I've earned myself Grade E in some three unit courses and my best course was APH301, which I had a B with a score of 69. About six months later, I went to check my 300 level second semester result and I now had a CGPA of 4.00. That was the happiest day of my University education. I was rolling on the floor of the room. Our present society is a mixture of different persons of different family values. That's one of the major reasons why people have different understanding of an issue or situation. One from a family with high personal and moral values may not agree with the other who has his or her own values, and who feels they are justified and right. You see situations where people can't relate because of their parallel opinions and beliefs which are antagonist to each other. You see situations where people "mind their business" because they feel that the actions and activities of other persons, has no significant effect on them. Many people expect life to be easy. Even as a Christian, there is no crown without a cross. Many people wish they can just wish suffering away, deny it exists or drink it away. Suffering is how the spirit of man grows, how it learns to discipline itself from the incessant demands of the wayward flesh. Suffering people are growing people. But does that mean we should desire suffering? No, we should not desire suffering but neither should we resist it. Because what we resist persists. We should not try to hide from suffering. Like a bully, we stand up to it, pull it in the beard and find out that it was just an attachment meant to scare us. Suffering is not bad in itself and will only cease when you have learned your lesson from it. Adversity is the road map to prosperity just as failure is the step stones to Success. This morning (on the day this was originally written), I and mum had a good mom-to-son discussion. I was listening to Tim Godfrey's 'Gbemisoke', with my earpiece tightly clung to my ears. The instrumental portion of the song forced me to dance along the rhythmic steps with a great fervour. Actually, the earpiece was already half-dead, and wouldn't be accepted by a layman even if gifted. I wasn't ready to buy a new one. I danced so passionately that my mum couldn't help but laugh. And suddenly, the song abruptly stopped. I wondered why it stopped. Later, I found out that the earpiece died itself. It was time to have it thrown out. My mum laughed at me. Then she said something that triggered a discussion. "Olorun moomo je ki earpiece yii baje, ki o le ramin" (God has deliberately allowed this earpiece to spoil, so you'd buy a new one." You can either carry the pains of your past as excess baggage or convert it into a fuel of love to propel you into your greatness. The choice is yours, because the past is gone and cannot be undone. However, the meanings we ascribe to the tragedies of our past is hardwired into our subconscious and dictates most of our thought processes and decision-making in the present. The way we interpret those events can be rewired to give positive meanings to our pain. We must see those ugly experiences as part of a grand design that is intended to bring out the beauty in us. We must see our past as a strengthening process, a necessary refinement procedure that was aimed at leading us to our authentic self. If you have been dreaming of the perfect home, perfect relationship, (you know - all sunshine and rainbow; the lady kissed the frog and it turned into a handsome prince (Lol); they got married and went to live in his castle and they lived happily ever after) Think again, well. The living happily ever after is a great relationship goal and quite possible but to assume all will be all sunshine and flowers every minute of the day, wouldn't be that cool. You will offend and be offended, as long as you are two different individuals, there will be cause for offending and forgiving. Knowing this in advance, one of the tools you will use to sail through the minefield of offenses in relationships and marriage is forgiveness.
