Happiness and You (Endorphins)

Endorphins are the body's natural opiate. It makes it difficult for one to feel pain and stress where one should normally feel so. It is involved in the feeling of pleasure and euphoria.

Endorphins is the last of the four major chemical substances involved in Happiness. It shouldn't be surprising that most of the factors that will increase one's endorphin levels also increases the production of some of the other chemical substances related to happiness.

The following boosts endorphin production:

1. Physical exercise;

2. Meditation;

3. Listening to music;

4. Laughter. Laugh everyday, watch some comedies, do things that makes you laugh, be around people that makes you happy;

5. Have positive thoughts regularly and say positive things, avoid negative thoughts and speeches, keep more positive people around you and have positive friends and relationships;

6. Sunlight increases endorphin production. At the same time, highly intense sunlight should be avoid as it does more damage than good;

7. Physical contact, touch, massage, enjoying good sex with one's partner, all increases endorphin production.

8. Foods like dark chocolate, spicy foods, hot peppers, and eating foods that one loves can also boost endorphin levels;

9. Creating time to play, playing games, gossip (not negative gossips about people, it's preferable to gossip about things and events or positive stuffs about other people) can help increase endorphin production.
