Today is International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The theme for this year is: "Listen First - Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe."

Drug abuse and Illicit drugs have severe impact on health, development, peace and security. Drug use helps to worsen health challenges such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV. Drug trafficking supports money laundering and terrorism.

Let us say NO to Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking!

This week, I'll do a piece on health to mark this event.

A lot of us have become used to using salt to kill earthworms when we encounter any in our houses. I've thought about this for a while now, but I recently decided to check it up and I'll share what I learnt about the science. Passing by a church over the weekend, my thoughts revolved about a noticeable trend that have stayed in Nigeria, I believe for about a decade or so. You must have observed same. Churches in recent years now use Religious broadcasting (which is broadcasting by religious organizations, usually with a religious message) to conduct LIVE services. So, a head quarter church in any part of the country can easily broadcast to any of their satellite churches, and you see people in this satellite churches agreeing and seeing visible results. I read this book about four years ago, and it was a big turning point for me. Much was learnt, I'll share few of them today. You should check it out. The lessons: Death begins when one stops learning, and ageing starts from one's mind, not one's body. One remains young as far as he or she keeps learning; One starts crashing once he or she stops pushing. One's ability to excel mentally is paralyzed once one stops trying and accepts that the results obtained is the best he or she can attain; One's life becomes a burden when one's life is void of progress. And when one's brain isn't working towards anything, it becomes a weight on the body. The brain is motivated when it sees something ahead, something to work towards for; One's success does not demand prayer and fasting, as much as engaging one's senses positively. Yesterday night (the night before the day this was written), I was having a nap, at the NIFES UNIPORT President's office, when Brother Daniel came to me and said: “Sir, we have a new person, he is stranded. And he needs a place to lodge for the night”. I was tired. I told him; “See to it that he finds rest”. Then he replied me: “he is a Muslim”. I said to him again; “that is not a problem. Just ask him basic information and tell him the etiquette of the secretariat. Also do a security check”. This is the normal pocedure for any one who comes around, because many have come in such way and at midnight they stole something. Then, I zoomed, off to sleep.
